house-rules for grognards...
Whiteout is a format I play with my kids. It is a great way to use all those old white-bordered cards from yesteryear. Through extensive play-testing it has proven to be fun, interesting, and balanced, without many of the broken combos of other formats. With the deck construction limitations it is easy to put a deck concept together without having to have '4 of every card'. Try it out and remember; "Trix are for kids!"
Deck Construction:
Decks must include at least 40 cards with no more than 3 of any card per deck. If a sideboard is used it must contain exactly 10 cards.
All cards must have white borders and 'normal' brown backs. This includes:
- Unlimited
- Revised
- Chronicles
- 4th - 9th Editions
- 'Starter' sets
- 'Anthologies' boxed set
- 'Battle Royale' boxed set
- 'Beatdown' gift set
The following cards are banned.
- Any card with a black, grey, or gold border or a different back such as the 'World Champion' decks.
- Any foil card.
The following cards are restricted to one per deck:
- Ancestral Recall
- Balance
- Black Lotus
- Black Vise
- Burning Wish
- Channel
- Demonic Tutor
- Dream Halls
- Enlightened Tutor
- Fastbond
- Mana Vault
- Mind Twist

- Mystical Tutor
- Necropotence
- Regrowth
- Sol Ring

- Time Walk
- Timetwister
- Trinisphere
- Vampiric Tutor
- Wheel of Fortune
- Windfall
Card sleeves must be used to keep those valuable rares from getting sullied!
